Damascus College Ballarat has two governors that represent each of the Sisters of Mercy and the Canonical Administrators of the Parishes of Ballarat and District respectively.
The emphasis at Damascus College Ballarat is on community. The College provides students with a sense of belonging and of being nurtured. Most important to the College is the welfare of its young people and hence the emphasis on providing an environment which is secure and safe, happy and productive.
Damascus College Ballarat has high expectations of its students. Each student is encouraged to develop to his/her full personal and academic potential. The school community recognises and celebrates the distinctive individuality of each young person. The College encourages, supports and applauds each student who undertakes to complete the full six years of their secondary education. Students graduate from Damascus College Ballarat with a sense of their own identity, a sense of their own worth and a Christian understanding. They will have been challenged in many ways and can leave looking confidently to the future.
The College’s mission is to live the spirit of Jesus as reflected in the Gospel, providing quality learning opportunities for all students in a Catholic educational community. To fulfill this mission, the College offers a wide range of learning opportunities which inspire and challenge the students to reach their potential through pastoral care and in both practical and academic pursuits.
