Catholic Education Week 2026
Catholic Education Week 2026 will be celebrated from 25 – 29 May 2025.
The Catholic Education theme for 2026 is: ‘Peace be with you all.' (Romans 15:33)
Catholic Education Week is an annual opportunity for Catholic schools in the Diocese of Ballarat to celebrate their distinctive ethos and mission with their school and wider communities.
Across the Diocese of Ballarat, 51 primary schools and 11 secondary Colleges educate almost 19,000 students and employ almost 3,000 teachers and staff from the Murray to the Sea.
Our Strategy
DOBCEL Strategy 2035
From the Murray to the Sea, DOBCEL aims to realise a vision of the ‘fullness of life for all’ for almost 19,000 students across a community of 62 Catholic primary and secondary schools.
While data shows our Diocesan system of schools is performing quite well, standing still as an education system is not an option in our ever-changing world. In addition, research shows there continues to be inherent and unacceptable educational disadvantage for students outside metropolitan areas.
Governance
The DOBCEL Board & Committees
The Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited (DOBCEL) Board governs Catholic schools across the Diocese of Ballarat, building on more than 170 years of Catholic education. Established by the Bishop in 2021, DOBCEL assumed responsibility for 56 parish schools (with further schools joining in 2022) to provide consistent, professional governance that supports principals, teachers, and parish priests in their ministry.
