Regional Dioceses Work to Grow School Leaders
Three country dioceses – Ballarat, Sandhurst and Wagga Wagga – have collaborated to offer an intensive 7-day residential leadership program to help develop Catholic school leaders.
The Country Dioceses Leadership Program (CDLP) brought together middle leaders to focus on the skills, knowledge and capabilities for effective leadership within a Catholic school context.
Catholic Education Ballarat Executive Director Tom Sexton said the program provides opportunities for participants to identify effective leadership practice and learn how to apply this within their own school context through a spaced learning model and coaching program.
‘A 7-day program represents a significant commitment from our system, the schools and the participants, but it is critical to school and system improvement that we provide these opportunities in developing our school leaders,’ he said.
“Along with colleague Directors, Kate Fogarty (Sandhurst) and Andrew Watson (Wagga Wagga), I was delighted to join the group yesterday to share my passion for Catholic education and leadership insights with them.
