A Smooth Transition to SIMON and Business Central
Lumen Christi Primary School, Delacombe
Lumen Christi Primary School has successfully upgraded to SIMON and Microsoft Business Central, two integrated digital platforms that streamline school administration and finance.
For Kristy Callanan, Finance Officer at Lumen Christi, the move has been a positive step forward for staff and families alike.
Modernising School Systems
After years of using older software, the school embraced the opportunity to move to cloud-based platforms. SIMON, an Australian system designed for schools, manages student learning, attendance, reporting, and communication in one place. Business Central supports finance and operations, helping staff process transactions efficiently and accurately.
“Staff have been very positive. Everyone has been happy with the new SIMON, and the transition has been very seamless for families.”
Support Every Step of the Way
Changing systems can feel daunting, but Lumen Christi’s team had strong support. Hands-on training helped staff get comfortable with the new platforms, while follow-up visits and access to online guides made the early days much easier.
“The support we received was excellent. Having help available in those first few weeks made such a difference, and the guides were really handy until everything became second nature.”
Early Wins
Even in the first two months, the benefits were clear. Automated bank reconciliation and smart transaction mapping in Business Central saved time and reduced errors.
“The ‘Apply Automatically’ feature in the bank reconciliation has been such a timesaver, as well as the ‘Map Text to Account’ function.”
On the administration side, SIMON brought everything together – attendance, reporting, and communication are now easier to manage, with a seamless experience for families.
Looking Ahead
The transition highlights the value of planning, collaboration, and ongoing support. As staff become more familiar with the systems, efficiency, accuracy, and data visibility will continue to improve.
“Don’t feel overwhelmed – there’s a lot of support available. And keep in touch with other schools going through the same process; they’re a great source of help too.”
