Grow & Let Go
Activity Instructions
We do so many things in our schools but sometimes we need to pause and consider what these things are and if they are still serving us as perhaps originally intended.
We also note the megatrends shaping our future and the global change forces impacting our
schools as described in the DOBCEL Strategy 2035 Exec summary.
Individually
Think about teaching and learning and how our schools are organised today.
Reflect on these thoughts and the emerging futures as you see it — global forces.
Consider which practices we might need to grow in the future — and which we might consider letting go.
In Groups
Discuss the following questions in relation to your school and record your group’s responses.
Grow These
What practices should we invest more time, energy, and attention in education?
Let These Go
What current practices may no longer serve our students well, and could be reduced or phased out?
Display
Display responses as a gallery walk using butcher paper or post-it notes on the walls and invite further consideration and discussion.
Collection & analysis
Collect responses for analysis:
- Are there trends and shared responses?
- How might these new insights inform our work?
Share findings
Discuss findings as a group.
